Ironically enough, we sat next to each other in Spanish class my freshman year. We were both seeing other people. He was a football player and I was a cheerleader, but we didn't know each other at all. He already knew Spanish so we only talked briefly before he tested out and I didn't hear from him until the next year when we were both on the power lifting team and single. He just so happened to be the best friend to my best friend's boyfriend. The rest is history.
Our best friend Mark turned 21 on March 1st. We couldn't celebrate until March 2nd- a Friday. Mark took a bit longer at work so we had to cancel our reservation. I wondered why Ivan was particularly upset about it. Anyways, Mark met us at the Saltgrass on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Ivan let me get whatever I wanted (hint 1) which was weird because we were trying to be smart with our money. Then, after dinner, Mark left to go to his car and would meet us at home. Ivan suggested we take the long way to the car to see the scenery. (hint 2; Ivan hates walking) Mind you, I am in wedges and my feet were starting to hurt, so I admit I was a bit snippy. That being said, it was no surprise I was annoyed when we came right before the bridge to the parking garage when Ivan said, 'Why don't we go down here?" pointing downstairs next to the river. (hint 3; more walking) I snippily said, "ugh....I mean I guess.". I still feel bad about that. Haha. We walk down into this circular seating area with the river surrounding it. There were 3 benches and a large tree. Ivan held my hands and asked if it was pretty. The oblivious idiot I was, turned around, put my hand on my hips and pointed to the old buildings saying "Yeah, how about that? This architecture is crazy. " He took my hands again and said, "I brought you here for a reason." (HINT 4 DESTINY COME ON SEE THE SIGNS). He continued to say this heartfelt speech of our journey together with his last sentence being "...and it didn't take long for me to realize you were the one" before he got down on one knee and popped the question. As I cried in his arms after saying yes, he casually said, "Oh, by the way, Mark is here." and like a pervert lurking in the dark, there was our best friend Mark hiding in the background with his phone. A moment of silence and then, *casual wave* "hiiiii guysssssss." I later found out that area where he proposed was called "Marriage Island".
