If you know Corbin then you probably know he likes to throw parties and the more thematic the better. On this occasion he was throwing a birthday party for his doggo, Lou, and naturally it was a dubbed the Louau; complete with all the workings of a luau party. Destiny was invited by her cousin, Krysteena, to come to her friend's party, but she had no idea what she was walking in to. No, she literally didn't realize it was a birthday party for a dog. Well, a few hours later and we both knew we we're going to be great friends so we made plans to stay in touch. And we made plans means Destiny asked for Corbin's number.
After spending some time together, we took our first "official" date two months after meeting. We went out for dinner and drinks (most of which we can't remember) ending the night at The W which is still one of our favorite cocktail bars in the area.
This one was literally months in the planning. Corbin bought the ring in April of 2019, but he knew he wanted to pop the question overseas. So he waited. Over the summer we attended our friends' wedding in Chicago and with Destiny's good friend Elisabeth in attendance Corbin knew this was the perfect time to start the wheels in motion. While Destiny was pre-occupied with bridal party fun, Corbin let Elisabeth know that he had the ring and wanted her help in surprising Destiny on a trip. Fast forward a few months later and Elisabeth is working in the State Department at the U.S. Embassy in London. So on Thanksgiving morning we were on our way to "visit Elisabeth" in London. We arrived early Friday morning and made our way around town for some site seeing ending up at St. Dunstan-in-the-East, a church ruin from bombings during WWII. Corbin, and still in perfect honesty, said he wanted to visit here to take some pictures of the architecture because it's very picturesque. There was a reason he chose to propose here after all. After taking a few photos of Destiny, Corbin suggested Elisabeth takes a few photos of us as a couple. While "changing the camera lens" Corbin slid the ring box into his pocket and walked over to sit down next to Destiny. A few nervous sentences murmured later and Destiny said "Yes!"
After nearly a year of quarantine and watching restrictions come and go we decided to postpone our big wedding celebration. Instead, we went through with a small backyard ceremony and celebration with our immediate family and bridal party. While not what we originally planned, it was more than perfect.
This is the part still to be written. While we wanted to have everyone attend our wedding ceremony it just wasn't possible earlier this year. BUT we still want to celebrate this momentous occasion with all of you. We hope you join us in this day of celebration where we plan to share with you many moments from our wedding day.
