Destiny and Jarred were introduced by mutual friends during the spring semester of 2017 and, to be frank, did not like each other at all. After a year of unpleasant interactions and poor opinions of one another, Destiny had a dream about Jarred. She woke up and immediately told her roommate, Madi, every detail of the dream and ended by saying "yeah so I think I'm in love with Jarred Shorter." Such a ridiculous statement was met with a groan and an eye-roll, but the hopeless crush had already begun. Later that morning, Jarred posted a screenshot from YouTube of Clairo performing "Flaming Hot Cheetos" live at The End. Destiny sees it and instantly sits up right thinking, "well this must be a sign, I love this song and I guess I love this boy." She swipes up to direct message Jarred about the song (that's right, SHE made the first move, #TimesUp) and they chat about their music interests and recent spring break trips until Jarred finally gave Destiny his phone number. They keep getting to know each other until, in a very sarcastic chain of texts, Jarred asks Destiny out to lunch. On March 24, 2018, Jarred and Destiny met at a local restaurant in Searcy (shout out Burrito Day) for their first date. Later that evening, they run into each other at a friend's party and pick up right where they left off earlier that afternoon and end the night with a kiss. The next morning, Jarred asks Destiny to study with him later that evening at a local coffee shop (another shout out to Savor & Sip). On April 14, after several study dates and a few smooches, Destiny asks Jarred out to see a matinee of Isle of Dogs and grab lunch in Little Rock before a long shift at work. A simple date, but one they'll never forget. <3 That evening, Jarred tells Destiny he's been telling people "yeah she's my girl" and she took that and ran with it. And it seems like the rest is history. :-)

The parking lot of an Austin, Texas apartment complex may not seem like the best place for a proposal to some, but let us tell you why it was absolutely perfect. During the summer of 2018, Jarred and Destiny had been dating for a little over two months. The stars aligned and each of their families were going to be in Texas for a few days so they figured why not make a road trip together to meet the family. First stop: Dallas, Texas to meet Jarred's mom and sister. Second stop: Waco, Texas to meet Destiny's parents, brother, and friends from church. Third stop: Austin, Texas as a treat for being on their best behavior around the parents. ;-) After a fairly stressful few days, Jarred and Destiny take off to Austin, Texas to enjoy some relaxing time together in the city they'd talked about in Instagram direct messages just months before. Jarred made arrangements to stay with his friends from Harding University's Belles & Beaux singing group, Ben and Zane, while Destiny stayed with family in town. It was in Ben and Zane's apartment parking lot that Jarred and Destiny talked about marriage for the first time. Two years later, with Ben and Zane playing the intro to Father John Misty's "I Went to the Store One Day" in the background, it was in that same parking spot that Jarred got down on one knee and asked Destiny to be his wife. The list of significant places throughout this relationship is lengthy, but this apartment complex will always hold a especially high spot on that list.
