The Universe Kept Trying

It’s funny how life has a way of bringing two people together — even if it takes a few tries. We actually went to the same middle school, had mutual friends, and even shared the same 8th-grade promotion… yet somehow, we never met. Trey was supposed to go to my high school but ended up at a different one, though his name still showed up on my school’s attendee list that first day — another near miss. When we were little, I moved away from my childhood neighborhood to another part of town, and not long after, Trey moved into that same neighborhood just a street away from my old house. I was actually a member at the same gym where Trey worked, but somehow, we were never there at the same time. Fast forward to February 2021. I went to work out at Chuze Fitness with my cousins, Lexi and Kylie, not knowing Trey worked there — or that Lexi and her fiancé, Bryce, had already told him about me and thought we’d be perfect together. When I met Trey that day, he was wearing a mask, so all I could see were his eyes. I walked into the locker room afterward and said, “Who was that we were talking to… and are we going to talk about how cute he is?” Lexi and Kylie both said at the same time, “Trey!” From there, things just fell into place. Trey found plenty of reasons to walk by us during that workout, and soon after, Bryce gave him my Snapchat. Funny enough, Bryce helped Trey write his first message — and Lexi helped me write mine back — so we like to call them our “matchmakers.” After years of almost crossing paths, fate finally got it right. And the rest, as they say, is history.
