We both travelled to the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago with our colleges. I was a student at University of Illinois and Destin was a student at University of South Alabama. We didn't meet until we were introduced by mutual friends during the conference. After hitting it off during that weekend, we decided to keep in touch after the conference and eventually try a long distance relationship, something neither of us had ever done before! Long distance was probably the hardest thing either of us has ever done, and we managed to do it for just about two whole years! We've officially settled in Mississippi, and are beyond happy to finally be together and to start our lives!

Destin surprised me in Illinois for the weekend and insisted we take a day trip to Chicago! We took the train in early, and planned on spending the morning visiting Millennium Park and having lunch at a deli in the city. While stopping at one of our favorite photo spots in the park, Destin handed his phone to a passing family and asked them to take a picture of us. I turned around to fix my hair, and when I turned back around, Destin was down on one knee with a gorgeous ring in his hand, asking me to spend the rest of my life with him! I could not say yes fast enough!
