We were set up by a mutual friend—someone who worked with both of us at different points and somehow just knew. She used to work with Charles when he was an admission counselor at Trinity, and later worked alongside Destin when she worked at Anthropologie. One day, she asked Destin if she was open to meeting someone and immediately started describing Charles—smart, kind, thoughtful—the whole deal. Destin was intrigued and said, “Yeah, he sounds great!” And then came the catch: “Oh… he just moved to Colorado.” Still, something about it felt worth exploring, so Destin said, “Give him my number anyway.” That led to a few FaceTime calls… which quickly turned into hours of conversation. Even from a distance, we both had a feeling early on that this was something worth holding onto. We dated long-distance for two years and made the most of it—traveling to visit each other, spending time in Colorado, and building a strong foundation along the way. Eventually, Charles moved back to San Antonio, where we now live with our two fur babies—our dog, Tex, and our cat, Matilda. By the time we get married in October, we’ll have been together for four years—and we couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter.
