Our story started in college with a very casual moment: me dropping off a bag of alcohol in Jake’s dorm room. At the time, he had a girlfriend, so our interaction was quick… just a passing exchange and a mutual compliment on each other’s tattoos. I didn’t think much of it. A few months later, I got a random follow request and Snapchat from him. We started talking, and somehow it all felt easy; like we had known each other for much longer than we actually had. The first time we really spent time together was at a campus party, and from that night on, everything just clicked. What started as a small, almost forgettable moment turned into something neither of us saw coming, and now here we are.
After years together, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t sometimes wonder, “Is this the weekend?” So when Jake planned a little getaway up north, I came prepared; cute outfits, makeup, the whole thing… just in case. That morning, we went for a run, grabbed food, and I could tell something was a little off. Jake seemed nervous, but I brushed it off as excitement for our day. He told me we were driving the Kancamagus Highway into North Conway for shopping and dinner. Honestly, it was the perfect cover. Then my little brother Nico called out of nowhere, and Jake immediately grabbed my phone and answered, “Hey buddy, we’re driving to the Kanc right now, what’s up?” I didn’t think too much of it at the time… but later I found out Nico had actually called to congratulate me, thinking the proposal had already happened. Jake somehow played it off perfectly, but at that point, my suspicion was definitely rising. As we drove along the Kanc, Jake kept stopping at every scenic overlook. Normally we’d barely stop, but this time he was jumping out, looking around, and rushing us back to the car. By the third stop, I knew something was going on. Finally, at one last overlook, we got out and started walking around. Jake began telling me how much he loved me, and I could see his hands shaking. And then… he got down on one knee. I completely lost it. I was crying, overwhelmed, and honestly barely remember what he said… thankfully my friend Micayla captured it all on video. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any more perfect, Jake’s friend Theo popped out with a camera. and then suddenly, our closest friends and family came running toward us. He had planned everything so thoughtfully, with everyone hidden nearby to surprise me. And the celebration didn’t stop there. What would become our wedding party (give or take a few of our favorite people) all stayed the night, and the weekend turned into nonstop laughter, drinks, and just the right amount of chaos. This was the most perfect way to start forever. I’ve never felt more loved, more seen, or more sure. It was the easiest “yes” of my life. And now, we get to say “I do” in the very same mountains where it all began: our favorite place, surrounded by our favorite people
