Taylor's Version

Our story technically began years ago when Alex and I were both in middle school, a year apart. Alex lived down the street from me, in between my matron of honor, Brittany Miller, and my house. I knew who he was, but we weren't particularly close at that point. Flash forward to college: I was at Baylor, and he also decided to come to Baylor (we joke that he was going to just follow me wherever though!) on the premed track. He ended up also coming to UTSW (again with the following me!!) and randomly was put into my group for the first year retreat that I was a counselor for. It actually was randomly assigned, I swear! I have always thought he was really cute and sweet and was definitely not upset about having him! A few weeks later he asked me out on our first date to the Dallas Museum of Art. From the second I got into his car we were laughing and hit it right off. It happened to be one of those special themed evenings at the DMA and we had such a good time. After a few weeks I knew he was the one! He popped the question on our cruise in April 2018 on the very top of the back of the cruise ship-- it looked like a scene straight out of the Titanic! We have loved the engagement season and are looking forward to celebrating with our family and friends in just a few short months!

Alex's Version

Our story technically began a decade or so ago when Taylor and I were both in middle school. She was the girl next door (living 4 houses down from me and my brother, the best man), 16 days older than me, and one grade level above at that; so needless to say, I was reaching here. As we later came to find out, she likes younger men and I like older women, so we were perfect for each other. However, while I was still working up the courage throughout middle school, then high school, then college, we really did not know each other very well. Our first time actually spending some time together, beyond running into each other on campus or HEB/Kroger/Target was at Common Grounds at Baylor University, when we decided to have coffee towards the end of my junior year. The subject of conversation was purely how to prepare for the MCAT; but as $6.50 espressos brewed behind the bar, a deep romance was slowly brewing at our corner table. While it took us a couple more short years to actually get to anything beyond casual acquaintances, when I arrived on campus at UT Southwestern, Taylor invited me to help search for a local apartment. Nearly from the moment we started, we were already having more fun than any actual dates I had ever been on put together. So few months into medical school I finally got up the nerve, and to my surprise she agreed to a loosely planned date at the DMA. I still haven’t quite figured out why she’s still here, but I figured I would seize the opportunity as long as she was duped and asked her to marry me on a cruise to Cozumel we took in April. We could not be more excited for the coming few months and especially for December 15th, when I will finally rest easier knowing that she will need to get the state involved if she wants to leave me.

For all the days along the way
