The story of Desmond and Alexis began way before the night they met in person. God slowly threaded their worlds together during their early teenage years - before the couple ever laid eyes on each other. Alexis became acquainted with Desmond through conversations with her childhood friend Brandon Besses. Conversely, Desmond also learned about Alexis through Brandon, his first cousin. Both parties repeatedly heard of one another throughout their middle and high school years, however, Desmond and Alexis never met in person until February 5, 2022.

In January 2022, Desmond decided to rededicate his life to Christ by completing a Daniel Fast to begin the year. One night, as he was praying sincerely, he asked God to show him his wife. Weeks later, Desmond was invited to a party by his friend, Terry, whom he met in high school. During the beginning of the party, several people decided to play flip cup, a popular drinking game (we played with juice, relax). Desmond and Alexis both played on opposing teams, facing directly across from each other. Pleasantries and some unpleasantries were exchanged during the game. Naturally, Desmond’s team won the competition. Noticing her competitive spirit and her beauty, Desmond approached Alexis after the game. As Alexis recalls, she remembers seeing Desmond in a corner by himself, then appearing before her eyes as if it were magic. The couple spoke for around 10 minutes, then Desmond formally asked her on a date. The rest is history!

Ever since she was young, Alexis set sight on being a doctor. Shortly after the couple made their relationship official on July 3, 2022, Alexis began to hear the Holy Spirit tell her to move to Arizona after discovering Sonoran University, a naturopathic medical school. Both Alexis and Desmond were uncertain about entering a long-distance relationship, however, both placed their faith in God and decided to move forward together with Alexis enrolling in Sonoran University in Fall 2023. Today, Desmond and Alexis have traveled over 40,000 flight miles to see each other. To put this in perspective, together they have flown one and a half times around the earth. The couple regularly uses FaceTime every day to connect and be present for one another. Alexis is scheduled to graduate from Sonoran University Spring of 2028.
