One of Jake's favorite places to go growing up was the Greensboro Science Center. Inside you will find a new aquarium, sphere theater and many other interactive activities, while outside there is a zoo and tree top adventure park. This is also surrounded by the Guilford Courthouse National Military park where Kaitlin loved to go feed the ducks...although beware the geese can be very aggressive!
If you are looking to learn some history about Greensboro, you can head on over to the International Civil Rights Center and Museum where the first sit in occurred at Woolworth's counter. The ICRCM seeks to ensure that the world never forgets the courage displayed by four young North Carolina A&T State College students, on February 1, 1960, and the hundreds and thousands of college and community youth in Greensboro, in the South and around the country who joined them in the days and weeks that followed which led to the desegregation of the Woolworth lunch counter and ultimately to the smashing of the segregation system in the southern United States.
Friendly Center is the place to go to get your shopping fix. With shops like REI, the Apple store, Barnes and Noble, and lululemon you can shop til you drop and then head over to Ben and Jerry's to fill up on ice cream. One of Jake and Kaitlin's favorite places within the shopping center is Friendly Pets where you can go and play with the cutest puppies around.
