"Every love story is beautiful but ours is my favorite”.

There are countless stories to be told involving high school gym class. Many are awkward, embarrassing and often extremely comical. However, for Nathan and I, P.E. was the very beginning of a beautiful love story that continues to unfold. Whether you choose to call it Pure Luck or Divine intervention, somehow Nathan and I wound up in the same gym class. He was a Junior, and I only a Sophomore, but I was positive he was the best-looking guy in the room. My friend happened to know his friend and so we were introduced. Our relationship began rather symbolic to how it endured throughout the years. We got to know each other over text, discussing the current season of “Bachelor”. Desiree was one of the girls on the show and we rooted for her throughout the season. Our first date was Valentine’s Day, 2013. Nathan made a lasting impression when he offered me a single rose and asked if I would go to a movie with him. We were inseparable after that until Nathan left for boot camp, for the United States Marine Corps. From there we carried on our relationship the same as it had begun. Over phone calls, face time and text we watched movies, played games and shared our days.

The proposal

December 31, 2018

Nathan came home for Christmas of 2018. New Year’s Eve, we had made plans with friends to ring in the new year. However, we chose to start the night with some time alone. Nate told me to dress in multiple layers because it was going to be so cold. We were to begin the night with a romantic, candlelit dinner. To my surprise, Nate had arranged a carriage ride through the streets of downtown Omaha, a dream I’ve had since I was a little girl. At the carriage, bundled up like the Michelin man himself, Nathan dropped to one knee and proposed. So together, on a freezing night in December, we chose to not only start a new year but a new chapter in our fairy tale. There are many stories like this, but this one is ours.
