Desi and Rob met on a dating app (Hinge) in April 2022 while they were both in Panama City Beach, FL for work. They exchanged messages for a week before meeting in person at Amavida Coffee Shop. Their first date at Amavida turned into multiple cups of coffee and wandering aimlessly around St. Andrews, neither wanting the date to end. Reality hit when Rob had to leave for a haircut, but they couldn't bear to part ways for long— they had their second date that same night!

On October 4, 2025, Rob proposed to Desi on their last night in Split, Croatia. After enjoying a week cruising the Adriatic together, he wanted to make the end of their vacation special. He had secretly carried the wedding ring in his laptop bag, and Desi, knowing Rob's love for his computer, was none the wiser. Rob took Desi up to a scenic overlook of Split Harbor, and pretending to take her picture, told her to look towards the water. Desi was in utter shock when she turned around to see Rob on one knee, holding a beautiful ring. She said "Yes!"
