Our Story
Deshanaye and Robert crossed paths online during their teenage years. Robert being a kind-hearted, HANDSOME teen with smooth, caramel-toned skin. Deshanaye, a BEAUTIFUL, brown-skinned girl with a radiant smile, effortlessly captivated Robert.
For years, their connection remained online—through school, friendships, and the inevitable growing pains of adolescence to adulthood. But in the back of both of their minds, there was always a sense that this digital connection was something more than just friendship. It was a bond that, despite the physical distance between them, felt as real as anything.
Life moved on. Deshanaye and Robert both went through their own journeys, growing up, finding new passions, and building lives apart from each other. Yet every so often, they’d check in on one another, as if no time had passed.

They made plans. It was finally time to meet in person. Deshanaye drove to Robert’s city, Buffalo NY, and the first time they saw each other face-to-face; it felt like the world had aligned.
The butterflies were real, the connection was undeniable, and there was no awkwardness—just the same sense of ease they'd always had in their conversations.
They spent the next few hours exploring Niagara Falls together, rediscovering each other not just as the teens they once were but as the adults they had become.
And with each passing moment, they realized that the love they had for each other was more than just a story of fate—it was a love that had withstood time, distance, and the tests of life.
A long-distance relationship blossomed, with visits every three months until circumstances made it impossible to bare.
Robert was reluctant to leave the city he had known his entire life, but his great-grandmother, Viola, gently urged him pursue his happiness, sharing her wisdom and love to guide him.
In the autumn of 2021, toward the end of October and beginning of November, Deshanaye and Robert set off on a journey from Buffalo, New York, to Tucson, Arizona, to begin their life together.
Over the next six months, the couple grew closer, learning more about each other on a deeper level. They traveled, tried new experiences, and cared for their fur family—Scruffy, Smokey, and Roberto.
On May 22, 2022, they were thrilled to discover they were expecting a BABY.
Throughout the pregnancy, Robert showered Deshanaye and their baby-to-be with tenderness and love. Their family of two soon became three when Violet Lavee Cruz was born in January 2023.
Robert set out to plan a surprise proposal that would take Deshanaye’ s breath away. The family embarked on their first vacation together, traveling in luxury to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Robert organized an exciting week of activities, including a photoshoot, all leading up to the big moment.
With Violet by his side, Robert dropped to one knee on the sandy beach, the sound of the waves crashing in the background, creating the perfect setting to ask Deshanaye to be his wife.
Overcome with shock and tears, Deshanaye immediately said YES!
