How We Met

First comes school, then comes marriage

Desarae and Trey met on the very first day of junior high, in seventh grade math class. Their teacher, Mrs. Callis, had the class go around and ask one another questions to find three things they had in common. Trey confidently walked up to Desarae and asked her what her favorite color was. Very shyly and hesitant, she answered purple. He smiled and replied that it was his favorite color too, joking that they must be meant to be. That afternoon, she climbed into the car after school and told her mom she had just met her husband. From that day on, they became best friends, spending time laughing, talking, and building a connection that felt natural and effortless. As the year passed, their feelings grew stronger than friendship, and they began dating in eighth grade for a short time. Life eventually took them in separate directions, but their story was far from over. During junior year, they found themselves in classes together again, and it didn’t take long for them to realize what they had always known... their bond was still there. Though they weren’t ready to begin again just yet, their hearts had already found their way back to each other. By senior year, the timing finally aligned, and they chose one another with certainty and intention. From that moment on, they became inseparable. What began as a simple conversation in a seventh grade math class turned into a love story rooted in friendship, perfect timing, and the kind of connection that always finds its way back.
