Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center is a non-profit arts and community organization housed in a renovated 1920s rock schoolhouse whose mission is to preserve and promote Southern Appalachian mountain culture.

The Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest near Robbinsville preserves one of the largest stands of old-growth trees in the eastern United States. Part of the Nantahala National Forest, the 3,800-acre Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest is a paradise for walkers, with trails that lead beneath giant trees, including an easy, two-mile trail that winds through the Forest, forming a figure-eight.
The Tail of the Dragon is a section of US 129 that begins at Deals Gap, near the North Carolina/Tennessee state line. The road is a popular spot for motorcycle and sports car drivers who enjoy challenging, curvy roads.
