We first met at work in 2019, though “met” might be generous because our introduction was a little awkward, and we didn’t speak again for nearly two years. Clearly, we were off to a strong start. Eventually, we started hanging out in the same friend group, going out together and getting to know each other little by little. What started as casual hangs turned into something more. Though, in true slow-burn fashion, we both secretly liked each other for about two years before Derrick finally made his move in 2023. (Yes, we’re still giving him a hard time about that.) From there, everything just clicked. Whether we’re out on the golf course, spending time on the river, or hanging out with family and friends, we’ve found that the best moments are the ones we share together, usually with a lot of laughter involved. In October 2025, Derrick planned a proposal on a beautiful bluff side hike in La Crosse. Elizabeth had a feeling something was going on… mostly because Derrick suddenly wanted to go hiking. Suspicious? Yes. Worth it? Also yes. Now, we’re building a life together filled with love, laughter, and plenty of time spent with our two cats, Meredith and Oliver, who definitely run the house. What started as an awkward introduction turned into the kind of love we’re so grateful for and one that was absolutely worth the wait.
