Maid of Honor
Ana & Hannah met in middle school health class (what a way to bond), and the rest was history (literally, they endured AP World & U.S. History together). Over their 15+ years of friendship, Hannah has always been a source of positivity, support, great book recommendations, and–perhaps most importantly–brown butter chocolate chip cookies.
Best Man
Five minutes younger, Matt claimed to be the "baby of the family" for their first 12 years of life (some might say he still does...). Nathan learned a lot in those blissful five minutes, but he's learned even more from having Matt by his side through life’s big milestones. From sharing a womb to sharing a room, they've been through it all, and the only thing stronger than their bond is their love of Southampton FC (Up the Saints!). Or maybe Matt's love of Old Bay. It's a toss up.
Bridesmaid
Would you believe us if we told you Ana and Lexi met in a class taught by Chef Jose Andres? It’s kind of true, since he only showed up for two classes. Whether in Lisbon, New York, Philadelphia, or DC, they’ve had many a weekend adventure, and getting to be 2026 brides together has been the most exciting one yet.
Bridesmate
Thom is Ana’s first-day-of-college-friend, and they’ve stuck together ever since. Truly, they even spent their semesters abroad just a few tube stops apart. No matter what continent they’re on, Ana can always count on Thom for a good show tune, silly video, or sourdough starter.
Bridesmaid
If you’ve ever heard Ana talk about a book involving a mythical creature, you can probably thank Cassie for that. Cassie and Ana share about a million interests–some nicher than others—but what they share most of all is the knowledge that if they call, the other will always answer, even if from a New York City bathroom. If that’s not love, we don’t know what is.
Groomsman
You might be shocked to learn that Nathan and John met through Ana (thanks for the introduction). John and Nathan have seen some of the world’s greatest sights together, from pink sand beaches in Bermuda (with Ana) to Stonehenge (without her). Through thrift store adventures and holidays together, John and Nathan have become real chummy and, together, they can sometimes, every once in a while, beat Ana in a board game.
Bridesman
Is John Ana’s oldest friend? No, he’s actually the youngest, but he is one of the friends she’s known the longest. From playing Boggle at summer camp to living together during a pandemic, Ana and John have seen it all. Probably more than they cared to. And isn’t that what friendship is all about?
Groomsman
Pat will tell you that he was shocked to have so much in common with his cooler, older, wiser floormate, Nathan. Okay, he’s never actually said those things per se, but they do share a lot of interests: coffee, golf, and generally unsuccessful Premier League (and Championship) teams, to name a few. Plus, Pat has armed Nathan with every fun fact he knows about Ohio - all two of them.
Groomsman
Stephen adopted Nathan as his introvert friend when he transferred to Elon midway through their freshman year, and they’ve stayed close by each other ever since. Nathan followed Stephen from NC to LA. Stephen followed Nathan from LA to DC. And, a few years back, they bought homes on the same street on the same day. True story. Whether it's a deep dive into the most random NBA player you've never heard of or trying out their terrible Dad jokes, it's possible that no one loves a bit more than these two.
Bridesmaid
Katie is another contender for Ana’s oldest friend. We may never know who Ana technically met first, but what we do know is that Ana can always count on Katie for advice, from dorm living to home buying to wedding planning. They may not always agree on who committed the crime at the center of a podcast, but they’ve stood by each other for 20+ years all the same.
Groomsman
Matt welcomed Nathan (with a big hug) when he transferred to Elon. He loves Nathan so much that he threw him a huge party for his 25th birthday. Sure, it was a little weird that Matt was in a tux. And that Aubrey was in a white gown. And that they exchanged vows. Okay, in hindsight, maybe it wasn’t exactly a party for Nathan, but they did sing him happy birthday! Matt's love of...well, everything is infectious, and you can always count on him to be your biggest supporter and number one fan, even on his own wedding day.
Groomsman
Did you know that mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell? Nathan and Kevin sure do, having learned it together when they met in freshman bio (honors, they'll have you know). They’ve stuck together longer than any star player has stuck with the Nats (sigh). Whether it's a live show or seeing a DC sports team lose yet another game (again, sigh), Nathan can always count on Kevin to go on an adventure - even if that adventure is listening to the slowest, saddest banjo you've ever heard (sorry again).
Bridesman
Sean might actually be Ana’s first college friend. When he asked to sit next to her at admitted students day, Ana definitely gave him a look. But nevertheless, he persisted, and they’ve been friends ever since. Sure, their text messages might be full of middle-of-the-night crossword puzzles ideas and alternate Sabrina Carpenter lyrics, but isn’t that what friends are for?
Groomsman
Nathan was 12 when Daniel was born. Tough age, so he's grateful for Daniel putting up with him in those early years. These days, Daniel keeps Nathan young. Be it through playing video games or through language lessons (no cap), Daniel and Nathan share as many laughs as they do genes. And jeans - Daniel has been the lucky recipient of many a Nathan hand-me-down. You're welcome.
Groomsman
Jack is head and shoulders above the rest of the groomsmen, literally. He's the tallest, and it isn't close (sorry, Daniel). But being the tallest isn't Jack's only claim to fame. He’s the only basketball-volleyball-rowing triple threat in the wedding party, and he's also the biggest supporter of Nathan being his punniest self.
Groomsman
No, not that Joseph Smith (sorry, we’ve been watching too much Utah-based reality TV). The other one, Nathan's oldest brother. Nathan got to visit Joe while he was living in Ireland not once, but thrice. If Nathan didn't love to travel before, his time with Joe in Europe certainly sealed the deal, from seeing the Saints in Southampton to driving through a herd of sheep on the coast of Ireland. Now, Nathan doesn't have to travel quite as far to visit his brother, but the adventures they share bring him joy all the same.
Groomsman
Would you be comfortable saying Sean has the voice of an angel? Nathan would. Growing up in Sean's shadow (literally) was hard for an aspiring vocalist like Nathan. Together in the boy choir, Nathan played second fiddle (on the roof) to Sean, who got to keep his nice voice after the age of 13. Sean also takes the title of first boy twin in the family (yes, there are two sets). Is there anything he could let Nathan have? Yes, the appreciation of an older brother who always validates his Real Housewives takes, no matter how absurd they are.
Bridesmaid
Maria was the first Smith sibling Ana met, just a few weeks into dating Nathan, and we have the incredibly awkward photos on a middle school basketball court to prove it (see above). On top of being perhaps the most welcoming person Ana has ever met, Maria has a swimming pool, two adorable cats, and great taste in reality television. What more could you ask for in a sister-in-law?
Groomsman
Nathan and Saúl bonded over many things when he first came to the good ole U S of A. Sure, there was the obvious like soccer (sorry, “football”), but perhaps more importantly, they exposed each other to new foods. Nathan got to share with Saúl the unparalleled experience of visiting a College Park IHOP. And before meeting Saúl, Nathan had never known the joy of a pupusa. Not to mention all of the amazing food Nathan got to try on their trip to Saúl's native El Salvador. A pretty even trade, if you ask us.
Officiant
Greg is a lot of things: a retired music teacher, art collector, world traveler, and Nathan’s former landlord. Okay, he’s also Nathan’s uncle, and he’s become the family’s go-to wedding officiant. Five years after officiating the wedding of Nathan’s twin and his wife, Greg is re-entering the wedding workforce to complete the set (of twins).
