Dillon and I met after Big Blue Madness. Big Blue Madness, if you don't already know, is the event that kicks off UK basketball. Since we were both in band, we were required to play at one of the biggest events in Rupp Arena. Once it was over, everyone loaded their instruments back on the bus and waited to go back to campus. Since I played one of the smallest instruments, I loaded on the bus first and started studying for my physics exam on my phone. Normally, my friend would sit beside me on the bus but that day, she decided to sit across from me. Everyone started piling on the bus getting ready to go back home. The seat beside me was still empty as I continued to cram for my exam. As I stared at my phone, I heard a nervous voice ask me if the seat beside me was taken. I said no and that he could sit there not knowing that this person was going to be my husband on this day 7 years later. I stopped studying and introduced myself and realized that Dillon was one of kind and to this day, I thank God for having him in my life.
Dillon and I both attended UK for college. During my sophomore year and his freshman year, we both lived in dorms that were on opposite sides of campus. I lived on North campus while he lived on South campus. Whenever we were stressed about something or needed a break from studying, we would meet and walk around campus together. The amphitheater behind Memorial Hall was where would meet. Throughout our years at UK, that was our place. On May 5, 2017, Dillon graduated from UK. He decided that he wanted to take graduation pictures and asked if I would like to be apart of them. I agreed and drove to Lexington a few hours before his graduation. While he was taking pictures, I could tell he seemed nervous but I just assumed it was because he was graduating later that day. I was definitely oblivious. After taking a few pictures, he decided that he wanted to take pictures at our place. I was excited to go back because I graduated a few months beforehand so I didn't get a chance to come back very often. He began to talk about all the memories we had there and before I could realize what was going on, he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. That day has been the happiest day of my life and I'm so excited to marry my best friend.
