Our Love Story

We have the most romantic, storybook love story! On January 14, 2023, our best friends, Kendra and Will, were married. Kendra was a close friend of Taylor’s from high school, and Will was Derek’s best friend from college. In the months leading up to their wedding, Kendra and Will couldn’t help but notice how perfectly we might complement each other. With a little faith, a lot of love, and some well-timed matchmaking, they decided to bring us two together, and the rest is history! We were both in the wedding, but didn’t actually talk until later that night, when Derek asked Taylor to dance to a slow country song. Maybe it was the music, maybe it was the moment (or maybe a little liquid courage), but somewhere in the middle of the dance floor in Taylor’s small hometown of Minster, we started falling for each other. As we were talking and dancing, Taylor’s parents suddenly walked up and asked, “So… how long have you been married?” Little did we know, we had accidentally wandered into the anniversary dance! From that night on, though, we’ve been together ever since. For the first 10 months of our relationship, we did long distance, three hours to be exact. Derek was finishing his master’s in Healthcare Administration and playing football in Fort Wayne, Indiana, while Taylor worked as a teacher in Columbus. It meant a lot of driving, but the miles were always worth it. In the end, the distance only made our relationship stronger and helped us build a deeper emotional connection. We learned so much about each other, fell in love quickly, and never looked back. Since then, we’ve experienced so much life together, from job changes and moves to all the little adventures along the way. Derek eventually decided it was time to take the next step and planned the perfect proposal. He surprised Taylor with a photoshoot, and during it, he asked her to marry him. It was emotional, exciting, and completely unforgettable. But the surprises didn’t stop there. Little did Taylor know, Derek had one more plan up his sleeve. He arranged a surprise engagement party at his parents’ home in Bellefontaine with all of our closest friends and family. Walking in and seeing everyone waiting was overwhelming in the best way, and a moment we’ll always hold close to our hearts. And that brings us to July 18, 2026, our wedding day! We feel incredibly blessed to be surrounded by our amazing friends and family as we celebrate one of the most important days of our lives. We can’t wait to become Mr. and Mrs. Robb!
