We first met back in 2014, when the extent of our interaction was Krista's side eye at Derek's denim-on-denim as he seamlessly joined Cigna happy hours at Cuvee in West Hartford, CT. (see Photos for proof) Years passed, Derek's hair grew longer, and Krista developed an attraction for an overabundance of Levi's. One fateful day as they were chatting on Bumble - because what 20-something meets their soulmate in person - Derek asked Krista out for drinks. She was 15 minutes late and he changed his shirt in the parking lot. They discussed his dreams of an oyster business, her recently obtained speeding ticket, and mutual friends (see: Best Man Miller). As you can probably deduce, drinks went well. We've since moved on to full-blown dinners and co-habitation. Our relationship lasted through a grueling hike in Nicaragua, house hunting, and the most trying experience of all - rug shopping. But through it all, we managed to come to the conclusion that it was, as the old saying goes, time to put a ring on it. We now share a home in Simsbury, CT with Tinky, the cat and Walter, the dog. We can usually be found checking out a new hiking trail, hanging out by the river, or attempting to be real adults who know how to take care of a house.
