On the 3rd week of quarantine 2020, Kellie went to CityLink in Fontana, Ca to help Water of Life Church pass out food to those who needed it. When she signed in, there was a very attractive man who signed in behind her. She was hoping the lady would send them to work together, however, Kellie's telepathy did not work... Derek went to work in the back, and Kellie went to work in the front. On the lunch break, Kellie went looking around to see if anyone needed more help. She saw Derek and his team working together. She went over to Derek and asked if he needed help. He clearly didn't but he said sure. The conversation flowed like old friends catching up. They both had to leave around the same time, and Kellie decided to walk out with him. Derek got pulled to the side for a few moments and Kellie felt strange waiting for someone who she didn't actually verbally agree to walk out with. So, she walked very VERY slowly, hoping he would catch up. By the grace of God, Derek had the sense to call out to Kellie to wait, and they walked together. He got her phone number and the rest is history ♡

Derek and Kellie went on a mini vacation to Lake Tahoe, Nevada at the end of February. Sunday February 28, 2021, we drove up the coast of Lake Tahoe to a place called Chickadee Ridge. We rented snowshoes and started hiking up a mountain. The elevation made the air very thin and it was difficult to hike up but Derek was persistent in making it to the top. We were able to feed the Chickadee Birds, right out of our hands! We finally made it to the top and could see all of Lake Tahoe. Derek suggested to take pictures together with the lake behind us. There he got down on one knee and asked Kellie to marry him ♡
