We met on a popular dating app. For Jamie it had been a handful of years with no luck across many different platforms. Derek's online journey was thankfully shorter. The funny thing was when going through the introductory "get-to-know you" questions, Derek mentioned that he worked at a "large Grocery retailer in Pittsburgh." With that answer, it must have been fate.

One of the first trips we took as a couple was to Sarasota to visit Jamie's Grandma. We both really enjoyed the area together. When we went back, Derek proposed the last night of the trip at a marina park where we would frequently visit and walk while there. Derek had to turn to plan B though as the place in the park was taken at the time he wanted to ask. He moved the time to a little later to a bench where we would watch the boats. It was very meaningful, thoughtful and special.
