Our Story

Written by Derek

I am a very lucky man. I took an environmental ethics course my second-to-last semester of college just to fill an elective credit, not knowing I would meet the girl I'd been looking for. Our professor was a pretty interesting guy. On the first day of class, he had a group of us come up to the front and get in a circle. We each picked somebody across from us to introduce ourselves, and I was paired up with Isabelle. As I "bowed" to her while introducing myself (ask her about it, she loves to tell that story), I saw a sparkle in her eyes that I would never forget. She ended up joining my group for our course project about National Parks, which is a big passion of ours. I remember being so excited when she walked over to join. Fast-forward through lots of pining, nerves, and a flirting performance of my life, I was too scared to ask her out. She graduated in May of 2023, and I thought I had lost her forever. That was until she messaged me on Instagram. I remember jumping for joy with my buddies when I saw the message. We hit it off immediately, and two weeks later we were dating. We eventually started living together in Woodstock, where I also got to spend lots of time with her family. After an amazing vacation in May 2025, I knew for certain that this was the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. With permission from her amazing parents Josh and Stephanie, I proposed at Westside Park (now Shirley Clarke Franklin Park) on June 28th, 2025 at 1:00 PM, and it was probably the most nervous I'd been since our first kiss. We fell in love with Naylor Hall last July, and we can't wait to share our wedding story with you!
