It was like any other Friday night in Chicago, only this time two people would meet the love of their life. Gaby and her friend Cassidy decided to go out for a drink to a bar named Damen Tavern. Derek and his friend Danny (best man) had just finished their workday at the United Center just down the street, and decided to grab a drink as well at Damen Tavern. When Gaby and her friend arrived at the bar they see Derek and Danny. Apparently, her friend knew them both because they were her partners co-workers at the UC! (WOW, what a small world!) Gaby and Derek immediately hit it off, they had great conversations and flirty banter. The group decided to keep the night going and went to another bar. The next location was a 1920s prohibition era library den. There was music playing by Frank Sinatra. Being the smooth guy he was, Derek asked Gaby for a slow dance. Initially she said no, but Derek convinced her to dance. So they had their first slow dance and this would be the start of their love story. They have been together for six years now and lived in Kansas City the last 4 years and now back in Chicago. They have two dogs, Lincoln and Izzy, who they adore.
