What started as a simple message, to nonstop texting, to meeting in person just 3 short days later. We met at Home Plate Pub in Marysville, Washington on Labor Day back in 2023. I remember how nervous we both were. The waiter came to take our order and ironically, we both ordered not only the same beer, but also the same exact meal. A BLTA with tater tots. After a few drinks and good conversation, the night came to an end. In the weekends after meeting, while Derek was still working in Washington, I was traveling from Monroe to then Yakima. From the beginning we spoke about what we both truly wanted out of life, and from then we have both created the life we talked about since the beginning day by day. Despite having a long-distance relationship most of the time, the days we do get to spend together we cherish. From moving into our first home, to then getting engaged, we are so excited for this next chapter.
