We met in college at Tufts University thanks to our mutual friend Drew (find him at the wedding!) who thought it’d be a great idea for all of us to live together in a big house for junior and senior year. Derek and I had barely met before signing the lease. When we all moved in, the house quickly turned into one giant friend group and we all became the best of friends. A few months into living in the same house, Derek and I started walking to the campus gym together every morning at 7am. We did this walk daily for months, pretending it was all about fitness when really it was just an excuse to spend a few extra minutes together. Eventually, feelings started to grow. Once we finally admitted we liked each other (our friend Lily had a big role here, find her at the wedding too!), we had to do some delicate maneuvering with our housemates, but it turns out we weren’t fooling anyone—they already knew. We've now been together for over 7 years, through long distance, career changes, a few cross-country moves, and lots of early morning walks. We now live in New Orleans while Chista finishes medical school, and somewhere along the way, we decided that we want to do this forever. Our housemates, still our best friends, will be at our wedding and two of them will be marrying us - we couldn’t imagine it any other way.
