Book a trolley tour or Drive Ocean Drive on your own! Stop at Castle Hill for a drink, snack or an amazing lunch overlooking Newport Harbor. You can buy a kite at Bretton Point on Ocean Drive and fly it while watching the waves crash against the rocks as the sailboats go by! If the Inn at Castle Hill is too busy, visit Oceancliff next door.
Enjoy a lovely scenic walk along the picturesque ocean paved walking trail and enjoy the views of the ocean on the left and the mansions and Salve Regina University on the right. For the Cliff Walk, the best place to park is along the road down on Easton's Beach (also known as 1st beach where the carousel is) or in the beach parking lot where you will have to pay to park then walk up the hill to the Cliff Walk entrance. The famous Chanler Inn is at the start of the Cliff Walk with its magnificent interior and great drinks.
There is a beautiful view of St. George's preparatory school and further down are restrooms and a concession stand. Easton's Beach (First Beach) is much busier and does not have concession stands or restrooms, however there is a fun old carousel and the Aquarium is there as well. NOTE: "THIRD BEACH" is currently closed to Middletown residents only due to covid-19.
Hike Sachuset Point (just past second beach) or enjoy a hike to Hanging Rock from the Norman Bird Sanctuary.
