we did the damn thing

Thank you to our wonderful and eternally loved friends and family for joining us on our wedding day. We were delighted to see those that came, and deeply missed those that were unable to attend. All of your generosity and support means the world to us; we are lucky to have a community like you all. Many people have requested a copy of our vows, and to see photos, so we have decided to leave this website up and make them both available here. All of our love, Denny & Kate

In the fall of 2020 as Kate was beginning law school she was lucky enough to get paired with her future sister-in-law, Brenna, as her school mentor. Brenna decided that Kate’s sarcasm and sass was on par with her own, and honored her with an invite to her Halloween party. That night, Kate walked in the door and was immediately confronted with five Fisher siblings yelling at her to take a shot. Those of you lucky enough to have been previously acquainted with the Fishers can imagine the hearing loss she suffered that night. Denny says it was love at first sight. Kate says it was most definitely not. He recalls being starstruck at the evening gown costume she wore, and she recalls making fun of him for being dressed as a crayon. Though she spent most of the night talking to Denny’s siblings, he still managed to make an impression. The first question he ever asked Kate was how many kids she wanted. She replied that she wanted a busload, and they spent the remainder of the night bonding over their shared love of children. A few weeks later, and with an assist from Brenna, Denny worked up the nerve to ask Kate out on a date. She promptly rejected him. Far from being discouraged, Denny instead became one of her best friends. They bonded over plants, thrifting, sustainable living, board games, and a shared hatred of beer and coffee. His endless patience and calm demeanor paid off. Soon, Kate couldn’t imagine going a day without talking to him. After a few short months, it was Kate doing the asking. They decided to get married at the end of their first date.
