Amanda Dennis and Joseph Iachetta both attended Schalmont High School. Being two years apart, the pair did not know each other very well, but did know of each other. Mandy thought Joe was a smart and sweet underclassman who liked track and band. Joe, thought Mandy was a pretty, outgoing, cheerleader and often said “hi” when he passed her locker in the school’s science wing. Mandy graduated in 2002 and Joe later in 2004. They went off to different colleges, then graduate schools, and both became teachers. Joe, a Band Director and Amanda, a Special Education teacher. Years later, in early 2017, Joe reached out to Mandy on Facebook when he noticed she was nearby in the Saratoga region. The two conversed regularly and finally got together to catch up after work on June 23, the last day of school. After not seeing each other for over a decade, they had a blast! The pair began casually dating that summer and into fall. By Christmas time, they were in a serious relationship and in love. 2 years later, Mandy and Joe had been living together, spending time with both wonderful families, and meeting each other's friends. Then, after amazing memories made, some tough days, and lots of laughs to get through it all, Joe decided it was time to pop the question. On December 7, 2019, Mandy was just relaxing at home, watching TV and recovering from surgery. They began talking about their past and future together when Joe turned off the TV program. He told Mandy how much she meant to him, got down on one knee and proposed! Of course Mandy said, “YES!” The two could not be more excited for their big day and a lifetime of love ahead for their marriage. Joseph and Amanda cannot wait to see their friends and family on their wedding day. They both finally get their happily ever after, after all this time.
