Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Dennis Malcolm and Veronica Valladares Hernandez
What are the best things to do around Monterrey? The traditional heart of Monterrey is the Macroplaza (officially Plaza Zaragoza, or just the “Gran Plaza”), ringed by government buildings and museums. Barrio Antiguo, the city’s Old Town, while to the west (“Zona Rosa”) and north (just “Centro”) is the modern commercial and business districts. Monterrey is best known for its excellent museums. The Macroplaza itself is a Modernist, mostly green space enlivened by squawking red-crowned Amazon parrots and the city’s 18th-century cathedral. The plaza is also the seventh largest plaza in the world. It’s worth strolling the narrow streets of Barrio Antiguo just to the east, dotted with colorful adobe houses dating from the 1890s, independent galleries, and the city’s best bars and clubs.

MARCO Museum: An innovative showcase for changing exhibitions of mostly Latin American (particularly Mexican) artists. Paseo Santa Lucia: Get to know a city that visitors spend time exploring Monterrey’s historic highlights; take a tranquil boat ride along Santa Lucía to the green swathe of Parque Fundidora, where a former steel-processing plant has been converted into another fascinating museum the Museo del Acero. Grutas de Garcia: Stunning and dramatic world class caves system dating back more than 50 million years ago. La Huasteca Canyon: is one of the most unique natural sites in Northeastern Mexico. For years, Monterrey locals have seen it as a place of fun. Chipinque: Give yourself the gift of hiking in Monterrey the City of the Mountains. Get ready for an amazing sunset.
