Dennis and I connected on the eve of Thanksgiving. Our two friends convinced me to come back to Dennis's house after the "Potluck Anniversary" party we all came from. I was hesitant at first because it was rather late, but I decided to go ahead and go anyway. I'm not always the most spontaneous of a person, but I decided to do that this one time. It was pretty laid back and casual with a small group of people just having great conversation. But somewhere in the night Dennis and I struck up conversation on our own. Things just flowed with us. We ended up listening to music all night while playing as a team on the pool table for the first time together and won! We found out we were both Tauruses and had many things in common. I will never forget the burnt chocolate chip cookies Dennis decided to make that night (lol)! Or the fact that we had no idea we already had eachothers numbers stored in our phones from over a decade before from meeting each other in passing. I guess we somehow missed out on eachother without knowing it before, but tonight was the time we got reacquainted with eachother... I felt so comfortable and at ease with him since day one. It was so natural, spontaneous, and fun to be around him. I think I had a feeling early on what we could be. We've talked everyday since that night :-) The rest is history!
It's December 31, 2020 and I'm preparing to propose. I thought about doing it before this day or waiting until next year because I wanted it to be its own day and not share it with a holiday. However, covid changed a lot of plans. We were planning to go to Vegas earlier in the year, but covid... We thought about going out for New Year's Eve like the year prior, but covid! Even with covid interfering with several of our plans, 2020 was actually a positive time for Travia and I. We spent so much quality time together and came out the other side closer and more sure of our relationship. The same goes with that night. We got some intimate time together without a crowd. Travia got me an air fryer for Christmas so I made some wings, fries, vegetables and also had some wine for dinner. Travia thought it was like any normal night like we would usually have together. The New Year's Eve festivities are on the TV and I take a moment to go grab the ring. The night is going well and she's not suspicious, but I am nervous. The ball drops and the time has come. We hug and wish each other a Happy New Year. As we hugged I told Travia how much I've enjoyed our journey together and how I wanted to continue this journey for life. We've been building to this moment. I get down on one knee and it's just as simple as, "let's do this!" She said, "yes!" The ring fit and she loved it. Our girls were very happy as well. They call it, "our wedding," which it is. January 1, 2021. The proposal.
