Question

RSVPs are due 2 Aug? But I just got my invite.

Yep! Please RSVP on time. We are doing this whole engagement to wedding thing in about 6 months, so timelines are tight.

Question

What do I wear for the wedding?

Answer

Please wear semi-formal attire (think suits, cocktail dress/gown), but be mindful of the weather. The ceremony at the DC War Memorial is outdoors and standing, so make sure you have a coat and ladies may want flat shoes (you can change for the reception if you'd like then). The memorial is covered in case of rain. The Reception is inside.

The DC War Memorial doesn't have an address...it just says it's in DC?

That is right, if you go to Google Maps it doesn't have an address. The DC War Memorial is on Independence Ave NW, on the North side of the road (road runs West/East). You will see it; it's a big white rotunda! It also comes up on Google Maps and Uber/Lyft by name.

How do I get to the DC War Memorial?

Answer

The DC War Memorial is on the National Mall near many other monuments and thus there is very limited parking. Please leave enough time for transportation. It is best accessed by Uber or Lyft, especially if you are not used to driving around DC. If you are staying at the hotel, we recommend sharing some Uber/Lyfts. A 4 person car will be about $12 each way. There is some street parking near the National Mall but expected a 15 min walk after you find parking, which takes time as well. The Smithsonian Metro is the closest metro (Blue/Orange/Silver lines) and is a .9 miles / 18 min walk. Whatever transportation choice you make, you can then use that to get back to the hotel or Reception.

So the Ceremony is in DC, and the Reception is in VA. How do you recommend I get to everything?

We recommend using a Lyft/Uber for transportation, unless you are local (and then you do you). A Lyft/Uber to the Ceremony from the Hotel, and then to the Reception from the Ceremony, will be about $12 each way for a 4 person car.

I've never used Lyft or Uber. How do I do that?

Answer

You can download either the Lyft or Uber app in the app store on your phone. You can set up an account with a credit card that is stored to pay or with a PayPal account. When you're ready to go somewhere, simply open the app, type in the address you want to go to, and select the ride you want (UberX (4 seated car) or UberSUV (6 seated car) are likely what you'd need), and your ride will come get you. Your payment will be made with the payment method you set up on your account, and you can add a tip with that same account (optional).
