We met in 2014 while working as valet attendants at Mount Airy Casino Resort. (Ryan still claims Denise lied about knowing how to drive a stick shift car, she didn’t!) Denise had a friend check if Ryan was single, then made sure he showed up to a post-shift hangout with work friends at Chili's Grill & Bar. After a night full of food, laughs, and drinks, we hit it off, which is impressive considering Ryan is a man of very few words. A month later, Ryan asked Denise to be his girlfriend and came over to meet her family. It turned out two of Denise’s sisters already knew Ryan’s mom from working with her at Northeastern Eye Institute, and they loved her. Denise’s father appreciated how calm and respectful Ryan was, and he approved. That meant everything. Denise quickly learned that Ryan was kind, faithful, funny, hard-working, and humble. She loved that he had grown up in a Christian home and that he cared so deeply for his mother. The fast car was just a bonus. Ryan loved that Denise was compassionate, supportive and caring, with a soft heart but tough when she needed to be. He still calls her his Carrie Heffernan (Inside joke). From the start, we spent nearly every day together. We moved to Maryland, then to Florida in 2019 (Best decision ever). Those years weren’t perfect. We faced struggles, old wounds, and growing pains. We didn’t always have a strong foundation, but we kept choosing each other and refused to let go. Through God’s grace, we made it through moments where giving up felt easier. Florida became home. Beautiful sunsets, amazing friendships that turned into family, a house we never imagined owning in our 30s, and a church family that welcomed us with open arms. Through the encouragement of our wise Pastor, his wife, and God's counsel, we learned what love truly means and what it looks like to put God at the center. After 11 years together, we realized Jesus had been the missing piece all along. We let go of old habits and began loving each other the way God intended. Once we did, everything fell into place, and before long, we were engaged (December 22, 2025). Ours is a story with ups and downs, but in the end, it’s a story of redemption and proof that with God, anything is possible. _____________ Nos conocimos en 2014 mientras trabajábamos como asistentes de valet en Mount Airy Casino Resort. (Ryan todavía dice que Denise mintió sobre saber manejar transmisión manual… ¡pero no fue así!). Denise pidió a una amiga que averiguara si Ryan estaba soltero y luego se aseguró de que fuera a una salida después del trabajo en Chili's con amigos. Después de una noche llena de comida, risas y bebidas, conectamos muy bien, algo impresionante considerando que Ryan es un hombre de pocas palabras. Un mes después, Ryan le pidió a Denise que fuera su novia y fue a conocer a su familia. Dos de las hermanas de Denise ya conocían a la mamá de Ryan por trabajar juntas en Northeastern Eye Institute y les caía muy bien. El papá de Denise también apreció lo tranquilo y respetuoso que era Ryan, y le dio su aprobación. Desde el principio pasábamos casi todos los días juntos. Con el tiempo nos mudamos a Maryland y luego a Florida en 2019 (la mejor decisión). No todo fue perfecto; enfrentamos dificultades y momentos de crecimiento, pero nunca dejamos de elegirnos. Por la gracia de Dios seguimos adelante. Florida se convirtió en nuestro hogar: hermosos atardeceres, amistades que se volvieron familia, una casa que nunca imaginamos tener y una iglesia que nos recibió con los brazos abiertos. Gracias al consejo de nuestro pastor y la guía de Dios, aprendimos a poner a Dios en el centro de nuestra relación. Después de 11 años entendimos que Jesús había sido la pieza que faltaba. Entonces todo empezó a encajar y nos comprometimos el 22 de diciembre de 2025. Nuestra historia tiene altos y bajos, pero al final es una historia de redención y una prueba de que con Dios todo es posible.
