How we met

As told by Mark... Never thought I would find the love of my life on a dating app, but one day into using Plenty Of Fish and I found my perfect princess. Flipping through the profile pics I stopped on hers and she looked so beautiful and her eyes, her beautiful eyes! I had to know more, so I read her profile...it was everything I knew I wanted; so much so I had to ask if she was real. I sent her a message asking simply saying "if your profile is really you, then you sound amazing!". Six years later and I know she is even better than anything she could have written about herself.

The Proposal

I had been playing with the idea of proposing for at least a year before I did. We were planning a trip to Europe in March 2020 and I decided I was going to wait until then to make it more special. Knowing one of our stops would be Paris, I scouted what the perfect place would be. Talking it over with my friend Manuel, he showed me the perfect place: A garden with the Eiffel Tower as backdrop. After getting the ring, I brought it to work where I showed everyone and Manuel asked what kind of socks I'd be wearing and if he could borrow the ring. I didn't know why he asked that, but I played along. Later he drove us to the airport and right when we were about to leave, he slipped the ring, wrapped in socks, in my bag. I was excited and very nervous she would find it. Shortly after getting to Paris we were told that they were going to be shutting down the borders due to the pandemic. We left Paris with the plan of going back and ending of our trip there. This is when I planned on proposing. As the restrictions got tighter and borders started closing, it looked like our whole stay would be in Germany with my brother-in-law, Doa (Eduardo). The week was passing, and it became clear we would not be heading back to Paris. I felt nervous that I wouldn't have the chance to follow the plan. Waking up in the apartment in Germany on one of the last days I knew I had the choice to either do it now or wait until the next perfect opportunity. I was ready and hoped it would still be special just going for it. I was nervous. I snuck into one room and got the ring out of the socks. I walked into the kitchen, where the whole family was, with the ring behind my back and with everyone watching I got down on one knee and took Denise's hand. She looked shocked and was wearing her PJs. I asked, "will you marry me?". She started crying asking if I was serious and oh yes I was. A couple of days later we were flying back home as a happily engaged couple.
