Things To Do
The Royal Mile
The royal mile is a beautiful long walk down a cobbled street that leads up to Edinburgh castle! We highly recommend that if you cant visit anywhere else in Scotland that you visit this road in Edinburgh! it is filled with little gift shops, restaurants, people playing bagpipes and at the end is the iconic castle! This is an old road filled with so much history and culture!
The National Wallace Monument
The Wallace monument is a beautiful monument to honour William Wallace, who you will all know from the movie Braveheart... this monument stands over the fields where William led his troops to victory on the battle of Stirling bridge. The monument has a nice walk up hill (or a bus if you aren't up for a walk) where it has views of the whole city, you can also climb up to the top of the monument where there is a museum inside!
The Kelpies
These are massive statues of horses... not far from our venue
Loch Ness
For all you monster hunters out there loch ness is the place to be... I've heard... honestly its just a loch but if you want to tell your friends when you get home that you saw the loch ness monster then this is where to go!
Arthur's Seat
This is a beautiful hike overlooking the whole city of Edinburgh! Neither of us has personally done it but i've heard great things
Calton Hill
This is another beautiful spot in Edinburgh. Like Arthurs seat it has a beautiful view of the whole city, but if you don't want to do the hike that Arthur's seat has then this is just as good with a fraction of the walking!
Buchanan Galleries
If you love to shop Buchanan galleries and Buchanan street is the place for you! With lots of shops, souvenier shops and food places! I highly recommend checking out Pizza Crolla on the street to try a battered pizza, deep fried mars bar or even haggis!
The Lighthouse
While in Glasgow check out the lighthouse, the bottom is a museum but if you climb up the stairs to the top you get a lovely 360° view of the city
Squinty Bridge
Take a walk along the River Clyde to the Squinty bridge! from here you can see the SEC Armadillo and the Hydro (Glasgow's concert/conference arenas)
Glasgow Science Centre
Glasgow science centre is a science museum filled with lots of fun science experiments! It is fun for all ages!
Glencoe
Glencoe is a classic Scottish sight! filled with great views, drives, hikes and this is where james bond skyfall was filmed if you are into movies!
Glenfinnan Viaduct
For all you Harry potter fans, this is where they filmed the scene in the movie where the car flys... not sure which one that is
Craigievar Castle
We visited here while in Scotland and had a blast
Whaligoe Steps
This is a beautiful stop on the north coast 500 road trip and on the way up to John O'groats. This is a old stone staircase leading down to a beautiful beach inbetween some cliffs
John o' Groats
This is the most northerly spot on the mainland of U.K. A beautiful coastal spot surrounded in cliffs
Falls of Bruar
A beautiful waterfall in the countryside
Skye
The isle of Skye is a Scottish landmark! Definitely worth the visit
Oban
Oban is a quiet little countryside town, very cute. If you have lots of time take a ferry over to the isle of mull and spend a few nights there!
Fingal's Cave
This is one of my favourite places on earth.. If you read the Oban post you'll see you can catch a ferry to the isle of Mull, its a beautiful island with lots of very cool landmarks, like a town full of colourful houses, but not only that but you can book a tour boat that takes you to the isle of Staffa! On this island is Fingal's cave, a Beautiful cave made out of rock pillars, also on this island is a native bird called the puffin. The story of Fingals cave is quite interesting and has to do with the giants causeway in Ireland. I highly recommend going here
