FAQs

We're so happy you will be spending our special day with us! As this may be the first time in Ireland for many of our guests, we've tried to provide answers to questions you may have. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to either of us.
Question

I have dietary restrictions, can I make a special request?

Answer

Absolutely - please let us know of any dietary restrictions ahead of time so that we can make accommodations with the chef.

Question

What types of rooms are available?

Answer

All standard rooms have a king size bed, which can be made up as two singles if needed. Family rooms are available with a sofa bed for 2 adults and 2 children to share - children under 12 stay free of charge when sharing with parents. Interconnecting rooms are also available. Please contact the hotel directly for further details. Note that breakfast is included with all rooms reserved as part of our wedding.

Question

Is transportation provided?

Answer

Our entire wedding from ceremony to reception will be held at the Maryborough. Rooms are available at a discounted rate from the night before the wedding through the night after (though you are welcome to stay at the hotel for longer!) - please contact the hotel directly to reserve. If you are staying offsite, we recommend arranging for a taxi.

Question

I've never been to an Irish wedding - what is the schedule of events?

Answer

Our ceremony will begin at 2 PM. A drinks reception will immediately follow the ceremony, where light refreshments will be provided. This will run for approximately two hours, at which time guests will be called to dinner. Wine will be provided with the meal. After dinner (sometime around 9 PM) the band will open the dance floor and the bar will be available. We hope you'll still be hungry, because a few hours later the chef will bring out a selection of finger foods. The DJ will take over around midnight and keep the party going. Note that late night drink orders will need to be charged to a room. If you are staying in the area after the wedding, we would love for you to join us for drinks at the pub the following evening. This is a casual gathering of family and friends - all are welcome! Please visit our Schedule page for further information regarding time and location.

Question

How do I get around in Ireland?

Answer

If you plan to explore the country, the best way to get around is by car. We strongly recommend renting an Automatic car if you are not comfortable driving a Manual. Taxis are available within major cities, but Uber is not widely available like it is in the US. Please see our "Travel" page for more information.
