Sean and I knew who each other were for a couple years before we ever had a conversation. It wasn't until we were paired together as small group leaders at the WWU Catholic Newman Center's SEARCH retreat that we really met. That weekend, I asked Sean to pray with me for our small group when we were done with the activities for the day, and he said yes without hesitating. That's when I knew we were going to be friends. After the retreat, we talked and texted each other pretty much every day for months before he asked me on a date. We'd meet up to pray together, go to daily Mass, talk about our lives, play intramural softball, laugh, eat lunch betweens classes, and just laugh. I loved how excited he got when he would talk about the things he loves (basically just sports) and how honest and friendly he was. Our friendship turned into the best thing that has ever happened in my life, and I'm so grateful to God every day for Sean's ability to say yes without hesitating.

When we first talked during the planning for the retreat at the Newman Center, she made me laugh and laugh some more. Sarah understands me more than most everyone and continues to make me laugh. She inspires me every day to be myself. The proposal could have gone better, but people in furry animal costumes were not going to stop me. I love her so much, and I can't wait to share this day with you all.
