all you need is love

We met for the first time in the summer before Demi's senior year of college, but didn't really talk much after that despite having a great conversation and being on the same rowing team. Demi had always thought Kevin was really good looking, but Kevin was scared of her because she was the coxswain of the top boat on the team. (Demi laughed for a year when she found this out later.) Finally, near the end of the season, they sat next to each other on a van ride back from a race where Demi said nice things like "Wow your skull is enormous," and "What if your name was Kevin Peter Peters" while Kevin studied and tried his best not to let the side of his leg touch hers. Shortly after that, Demi asked Kevin to join her on a hike in the nearby mountains on their first date, he asked her for coffee on the next, and the rest is history.

It was the year 2020 and Kevin had just finished his last prep courses before starting nursing school, and he suggested to Demi that they take a small vacation. Nothing big, just a little Airbnb in Temecula where they can just relax and do nothing, maybe do a small tour of a winery and get a bottle to share. Demi thought this was a great idea, so they booked a tiny house over what ended up being the hottest weekend of the whole year. After a relaxing day of drinking lots of water and trying not to move too much, Kevin surprised Demi with a private horseback vineyard tour at sunset, where he got down on one knee and she said yes. Neither can remember what else was said except "you're my best friend," but that's all we really need. We're so excited to see you in Julian!
