We're so excited to celebrate with you!

We met through mutual friends. When Jared asked Demetria on a date to celebrate Valentine's Day Demetria knew he was really interested. We started 'officially' dating in April of 2018 but close friends will tell you we really started dating the day we met back in January of 2018. We quickly began spending lots of time together chasing sunsets in Bellingham, cooking fun meals, and trying new things together. That first summer together we starting getting to know each other's families, went on some pretty awesome hikes and then had to say goodbye for almost 10 months while doing the extreme version of long distance. Demetria didn't have great reception in North Africa where she was doing volunteer work so it was mostly post cards and texts and the occasional face time. Jared was a trooper and stuck it out while trekking away at his Bachelor's degree. Finally in June of 2019 they were reunited- Jared's friends were in on it and Demetria managed to surprise Jared when she came home. After that we made a pact to never do long distance again. That summer we road tripped to Montana for a friend's wedding, the following winter we explored Victoria, BC and our most recent adventure- vacationing in Costa Rica with Demetria's family. Jared graduated WWU in April of 2020 and has been working at Boeing since. We found a church that we love and have grown in community together. Demetria is graduating from WWU in June of 2021 and is busy wedding planning. On April 16, 2021 we went on a classic date for us- we picked up takeout, went to a favorite spot, Woodstock Farms, and enjoyed a beautiful evening together. Demetria walked down to the fence to take in the beautiful view of the sunset overlooking the San Juan Islands only to turn around to Jared down on a knee with a special box opened in his hands. We popped some champagne and called loved ones to share the news.
