We're getting married!

We met in our Spanish class Fall 2009. We quickly hit it off and became great friends, and hung out nearly every day throughout high school. We ended up going to separate universities (Alec to CMU, Demerie to Ferris), which proved to only strengthen our friendship! On September 9th, 2012 we were hanging out with friends for the CMU/MSU football game and we decided to take the leap and start a relationship together! Our friends and family pretended to be shocked, but deep down everyone expected this to happen - except for us!

The past 4 years we've attended the Wild Lights Christmas display at the Detroit Zoo. We were really looking forward to this year in particular, after a rough year of COVID-related cancellations. We arrived at the Zoo and got our spiked hot cocoa's, ready to walk through the display. We were almost to the end of the light display, when Alec nervously stopped to ask "something very important". I quickly realized he was proposing and asked if I should take off my mask! Spoiler alert, it ended with a YES! Though we've enjoyed our 9 year run as boyfriend and girlfriend (now fiancé), we are so ready to take the next step as husband & wife!
