Newport is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Rhode Island, and about a 40 minute drive from the venue area. Take a tour of the famous Gilded-age mansions, hike along the Cliff Walk, have a drink on the lawn at the Castle Hill Inn or at Newport Vineyards, and shop / walk around downtown Newport and Bowen's Wharf. Our favorite places to eat include Diego's, the Clarke Cooke House, Bar Cino, Surf Club, and The Mooring!
Head down to Point Judith and hop on either the traditional (1 hour) or hi-speed (30 min) ferry to Block Island. Enjoy the beaches, shops, restaurants - and don't forget to have a Mudslide! Catherine's favorite is from The Oar and Zack's favorite is at Champlin's. You can bring your car onto the ferry, but parking is also available near the port. You'll be able to walk, call a cab, or rent a moped to get around the island. If you do bring your car onto the ferry, make sure you book your tickets accordingly for each way.
For options closer to the venue, check out Roger Williams Park Zoo or head to Main Street in East Greenwich. There's plenty of shops and restaurants to check out on Main Street - have a famous espresso martini from Main Street Coffee. The Warwick Mall is also nearby for anything that you may have forgotten to pack.
If you're heading out of Rhode Island, you could stop by downtown Westerly or Watch Hill - where we live! You'll be able to hit our favorite local spots like Perks & Corks, High Hope Tavern, Hoof's, or Grey Sail Brewing. Enjoy East Beach at Watch Hill, then stop in to all the local boutiques. Be sure to check out The Candy Box for a sweet treat. You'll also be able to see Taylor Swift's "Holiday House" and the famous Ocean House hotel in Watch Hill.
