We met on social media, Snapchat to be exact, back in 2016 when DeMarcus decided to comment a heart eyes emoji on one of my pictures as an attempt to get to know me . I did not take him seriously initially so I sent a laughing emoji back because who doesn’t send heart eye emojis as an attempt to flirt right? So I would talk to him and then stop and repeat the cycle, which drove him crazy, but to me it showed that he really wanted to pursue me. I would go to these parties he would throw and I invited him to a couple that me and my friends had as a way to kick it with each other without making anything official or taking it too seriously. On January 19, 2020 I finally let him take me out on a real date to brunch at a restaurant that no longer exists in Harbor Town Memphis. The date went well, obviously, because since then we’ve been inseparable. Yes it took me what 6 years to take him seriously lol but a girls got to be sure! He became my first and only boyfriend, my first I love you and my first everything so of course I couldn’t let him go when I got him. Who would’ve known that two kids from 2016 would make it to eloping on June 30, 2025 after 9 years of knowing each other. Let DeMarcus tell it and he’ll say he knew all along.
