Candice and I met through The One University (TOU), a Christian platform that is designed to help godly singles prepare for kingdom marriages. Candice friend requested me on Facebook. After becoming Facebook friends, I found myself intrigued by her posts and started "casually browsing" her page. Or, let her tell it I was “Facebook stalking her”. Lol I liked and commented on a few of her posts and stories, which led to her direct messaging me on 9/11/19. During our phone conversations, we were intentional about seeking God through prayer and about whether or not we should continue talking as friends or more. On 9/27/19, during our prayer and worship on the phone, I unknowingly spoke the very words that Candice spoke to God years prior confirming I was her husband. God confirmed a vision I wrote in August 2019 confirming that Candice was my wife. Several days later we made our relationship official on Facebook and we finally had the opportunity to meet face to face in October 2019 in Toledo, Ohio. The rest is history.
I spent several weeks coordinating/planning with family and friends for the special moment which led to the proposal. I decided to have one of Candice’s close friends make a reservation at a nice restaurant with an intimate setting. She also had a florist to create a silk flower centerpiece for the dinner table and decorate the table for our evening. On that evening we sat across from each other in a cozy booth with the lights dimmed and curtains pulled to close off ourselves from the rest of the dining area. We talked and laughed and expressed our love for each other and how we looked forward to spending our lives together building a legacy for us and for the Kingdom. We ate dinner and the waiter brought the check. Candice was anxious to find out what desserts they offered. However, I played it off like we were preparing to leave and not have dessert. Then the waiter approached the table with a slice of cheesecake (one of Candice’s favorite desserts) with the question “Will you marry me?” on it. By this time I was on one knee with the engagement ring in hand. She said YES!!! With a big smile on her face. People that were dining in the same area began to clap and cheer as we exchanged hugs and kisses.
Under the leading of the Holyspirit, we were led to get married on March 6, 2020 before the Covid-19 pandemic and postpone our wedding celebration on 4/25/2020 to 3/6/2021
