One night, Matt was supposed to go salsa dancing with his fellow co-residents to celebrate. Renee, who had just moved to Denver, was also invited by the mutual friend to come out and celebrate. But instead of making it to the salsa spot, Matt ended up at that same friend’s house where her husband was babysitting Renee’s 4 month old puppy—and spent the whole night playing with the dog. (Priorities, right?) Naturally, our friends thought, “Perfect! Let’s set these two up so their dogs can play together.” *wink wink, nudge nudge* But Renee, having listened to one too many murder podcasts, wasn’t about to just hand over her address to some guy who she has never met. So, the compromise: a group BBQ organized by our friends. Dogs were, of course, on the guest list. That’s where we first met—surrounded by good food, great friends, and two very happy dogs who were clearly one step ahead of us on the matchmaking.
