How We Met

08 . 18 . 2016

We met at an insurance cocktail party. Delphia was in a red dress and Brian sauntered up with a couple too many buttons undone for a work function. From there, we proceeded on to sushi dinner where Brian ordered for the group. It was between the uni and octopus courses, that Delphia realized he was a keeper.

The Proposal

05 . 31 . 2019

Since the 7th grade Brian's first love of music was 90s R&B. A true romantic at heart, even in those days, "Let's Get Married" by Jagged Edge was one of his favorites and he vowed to serenade his (future) bride to be with it years later. With Brian's sister up in SF for one final visit before he and Delphia made their pilgrimage south, he organized what seemed like a normal dinner with friends at their favorite upscale din sum joint. The post dinner plan was to move the group to their local Karaoke bar in the Marina. Upon arrival, bursting with excitement, the gigging girls delivered a song card to the KJ (How do you know if he really loves you?). When their name was called, their group naturally moved towards the front of the stage. After 3.5 minutes of botched lyrics, they snickered and high-five'd as they exited the platform. Little did Delphia know that Brian was up next. "This one goes out to a very special lady...Delphia" as the song began to play. In front of 15 close friends, and another hundred bar patrons, he poured his heart into 5+ minutes of R&B bliss. Dancing and singing along as she looked up at him, she still seemed clueless as to what was about to transpire. But as the serenade wrapped up, Delphia naturally shuffled onto the stage to give her light pink blazer wearing beau a smooch. He promptly put the mic down, dropped to a knee, and pulled the ring out of his jacket pocket. As the bar erupted, she placed her head in both hands (twice), and then joyfully accepted. Good pal Willy was standing by with a tray of champagne for an immediate cheers.
