Paul and I met at PIHOP (Pasadena International House of Prayer) when he was placed on my Thursday intercession worship team. We both didn't think much of each other, just sang together and went months before having an actual conversation. I guess its true when they say food is the way to a man's heart. Me bringing a homemade Korean dessert finally got us talking, as he just had to know what this black girl knew about heotteok! It was then he learned that I lived in Korea for 8 years, and decided he wanted to get to know me more. He seemed nice enough, but it wasn't until a couple weeks later when our worship team leader led a spontaneous prayer session for Paul that God opened my eyes and heart to really see Paul. I was surprised and delighted to see the passion for Christ and sincerity underneath his unassuming character. It was then that I decided I wanted to get to know him more too! Our first one-on-one (date? hangout?) was at his friends art gallery in Korea Town. (Shout out to Gallery Pado! Love you Jullien unnie!) Conversation flowed, boba was had, a meal was shared, and now here we are ready to get married! He was impressed by my ability to carry myself with confidence as I conversed with the artist whose work was being displayed. I was impressed by his honesty and vulnerability as he shared his life story. His sincerity put me at ease; I finally found the one I could be completely myself with. We feel like we have been waiting forever for this day, and are so excited to spend the rest of our lives together pursuing the Lord and loving each other.
