On May 30th, 2020 Taryk proposed to Delaney at sunset on water tower hill in Ellensburg Washington. In that very spot, three and half years before, Delaney and Taryk first got to know each-other while watching the Ellensburg Rodeo with their XC team. From that day on, they knew they had something special. The night of the proposal, after taking Delaney to the spot where they first started falling for each other, Taryk gave Delaney a book. It was the story of their love and included pictures and memories of their past, captured moments of falling in love, and it ended with a note that he could not wait to continue that love into the future. Unsurprisingly, Delaney cried tears of joy, as Taryk got on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage. As a surprise, friends had traveled far distances and they all celebrated the exciting news and toasted to Delaney and Taryk and the start of their happily ever after!

CWU was the road to love for these two! They both had been selected to run on the cross country team. Taryk was a sophomore and was drawn to her from the start and held out hope her personality would match the beauty. It was August of 2016 and the team was thrown together to start the XC season. Taryk would find a way to sit next to Delaney at team dinners and loved to tease her by trying to steal her dessert. But he was actually stealing her heart at the same time. They were drawn together while singing on hikes, sitting close at the rodeo, and sitting by a lake under the stars during a team camping trip. Romance bloomed as he patiently walked her to her dorm after studying in the library, made each other laugh over Snapchat and sweet trips for ice cream. And as love began to grow between them, they had their first date watching football and making dinner. Neither knew that all the miles they had put into their running over the years was really leading them to one another. First love. Only love. Forever love.
