It was summer of 2020 and Delaney just graduated from nursing school and was ready to start her first nursing job and Gregor was living in Stevens Point working as a physical therapist. We both were trying to navigate dating during a pandemic, Hinge quickly became the answer to both of our prayers. Gregor and I met on a dating app called hinge. If you didn't know, on hinge you can set some requirements for your matches, one of them being distance. It was pretty neat how our paths even crossed on the app because our locations were barely set to reach each other (Gregor in Stevens Point and Delaney in Marshfield). Gregor swiped first and I thought he looked "normal enough" to accept his conversation request through the app. He also had a dog in one of his pictures and that really sold it (turns out it wasn't even his dog). Delaney and Gregor talked for a few months before their schedules lined up and they were able to go out on a date. It was a Wednesday night and Delaney had to work the next day, but how could she turn down a free meal, right?! Gregor paid attention and planned the perfect first date at a Mexican restaurant with a raspberry margarita promised. At the end of dinner, the conversation was still flowing (margarita or chemistry?) and Gregor offered going to a taproom not too far away, and then a movie (obviously neither of us wanted it to end). Our first date was followed by many more and we both quickly became aware that this was something special.
