Our story starts in the most romantic of places: a crowded college house party during our sophomore year attending Gonzaga University. Bowen had just come from a potluck where he—naturally—brought baguettes. (Yes, plural.) For reasons still unclear but now deeply appreciated, he showed up to the later party with an extra baguette tucked under his arm. Meanwhile, Delaney walked into the kitchen of this house and saw a guy casually sitting on the kitchen counter, eating an entire baguette like it was the most normal party snack in the world. She doesn't know if it was the confidence, the carbs, or simply fate, but what she did know was that she needed a bite of that loaf. So she walked right up and asked for one. Bowen, being a man who takes his bread very seriously, hesitated for a second —just long enough for Delaney to wonder if she had overstepped. But then he broke off a piece and handed it over, like sharing a whole loaf with a complete stranger at midnight was only slightly unreasonable. We ended up talking the rest of the night and that baguette at a house party became the first chapter of our story. Looking back, it makes perfect sense: our relationship began with laughter, a moment of boldness, and a delicious, carb-filled shared snack. And it’s only gotten better (and much more intentional) in the last 7 years together!
