Love is large and incredibly patient. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one’s achievements nor inflate its own importance. Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense. Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong. Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up. Love never stops loving.
It was a cool, crisp January afternoon in Highlands College. Benjamin and Delaney had both just sat through a class in the Pastoral Leadership Practicum. Benjamin stayed after to chat with some friends and Delaney was the last to leave…thus causing them to bump into each other. Ben did not think much of it at the time, but that was the start of Delaney’s massive crush on him. Now we jump to the first week in February (time travel…pretty cool). Delaney was tasked with picking up donuts and coffee for her practicum and was told she could bring someone with her. She saw the opportunity and took it. She invited Ben to go with her on this adventure. While at Dunkin Donuts, this was the first time Ben asked Delaney out. “Will you dough out with me” the Dunkin promotion read which Ben repeated out loud. “Maybe once I get to know you better” Delaney skillfully replied. And a friendship bloomed. For the next few months Delaney and Benjamin were “just friends”. They were the type of friends that hung out all the time, talked to each other on the phone for hours, and occasionally held hands. However, on April 9th, 2021 this friendship bloomed into something more…an official relationship! Time went on and we both grew immensely. We walked through hard things together and got to celebrate the highs of life side by side. It wasn’t just love, we were and will continue to be best friends. Friends that have an unbreakable bond no matter what comes at us. Friends that have committed to loving each other with a 1 Corinthians 13 type of love. Welcome to the new chapter of our epic saga: Benjamin and Delaney get married. We can not wait to see what is in store.
